What is Biodegradability?

GREENOCO's vegetable oil based lubricants, when spilled either accidentally or through their use in total loss applications, will be rendered inert by the natural action of micro-organisms in the water and the soil. These living "bugs" use the fatty acid lubricant as food and they do so quickly, so that in 21 days about 97 percent of the oil is gone. This compares to mineral oils which can take years to biodegrade.

Furthermore, because this lubricant has extraordinary adhering qualities (as compared to petroleum lubes), when GREENOCO's lubricants are spilled onto the ground, they will adhere better to soil particles as they penetrate the ground. Therefore, they will stay on or nearer to the surface, which will promote further biodegradability because there is more oxygen and thus more micro-organisms to biodegrade the spilled oil. What this also means is that typical EPA and OECD biodegradability tests will tend to understate the true biodegradability of GREENOCO lubricants.
